2008 MBA Classmates - John Luen
“I continued my MBA
program at UMT.” John says. I worked for the Australian Consulate General in Hong Kong between 1991 and 2005.
During the time period of 1996 – 2001(5-years), my duty
was to supervise a group of staff members in the administration
section in order to complete their daily mission. In
November 2001, I was transferred to the Passport and
Consular Section as a passport and consular officer.
My main duties were responding to front counter inquiries
and taking passport applications. In April 2002, I was
sent to Canberra Australia for consular and passports
training. In June 2003, I was formally promoted to the
position of Manager of the Consular and Passports Services
Section.
I left the Australian Consulate in June 2005 and started another job in July
2005 for MJB InterCommunication as an Administrative
Manager until the present.
While working for MJB, I found
that my qualifications were not competitive. Therefore,
I decided to continue my education to further my career.
Luckily, my current job has not given me too much pressure.
Hence, I used two years of my time to complete a Bachelor’s
Degree in Business Administration at the University of
Management and Technology (UMT).
"After achieving
my Bachelor’s Degree at UMT, I felt that studying at
UMT was convenient and suitable for me, being a full
time worker, because UMT has provided a flexible learning
style of on-line learning. The student can choose the
completion time according to your availability."
Subsequently, I continued
my MBA program at UMT. It took more than a year to complete
the designated courses. In this time period, I have met
lots of new classmates who have all become my good friends.
