As I have to manage multi-tasks in my department, I would like to learn how to coordinate with other departments and achieve a higher goal in my job. 2008 BSCS Classmates IP, Yan Kit Dicky

“I can learn more theories and updated technology in computer science through the BSCS program in UMT.” Dicky says.

Since my graduation of professional diploma in computer science long time ago, I participated in information technology industry major in computer operations. Currently, I am an Assistant Technical Services Manager of an international bank in Hong Kong and lead two teams under information technology department. Due to the job nature with high workload and variable working schedule, it was much difficult for me to select a study for enhancement through the traditional part-time learning programme until I learnt a flexible distance learning programme from UMT that fit my study time model and provide a harmonic time-balancing among my work, study and family.

I can learn more theories and updated technology in computer science through the BSCS program in UMT. With the implementation of the techniques learnt in UMT, I believe it will provide me with a fresh incentive and encouragement in my work to better prepare for the forthcoming challenge in the future.

2008 MBA Classmates - John Luen

“I continued my MBA program at UMT.” John says.

I worked for the Australian Consulate General in Hong Kong between 1991 and 2005. During the time period of 1996 – 2001(5-years), my duty was to supervise a group of staff members in the administration section in order to complete their daily mission. In November 2001, I was transferred to the Passport and Consular Section as a passport and consular officer. My main duties were responding to front counter inquiries and taking passport applications. In April 2002, I was sent to Canberra Australia for consular and passports training. In June 2003, I was formally promoted to the position of Manager of the Consular and Passports Services Section.

I left the Australian Consulate in June 2005 and started another job in July 2005 for MJB InterCommunication as an Administrative Manager until the present.

While working for MJB, I found that my qualifications were not competitive. Therefore, I decided to continue my education to further my career. Luckily, my current job has not given me too much pressure. Hence, I used two years of my time to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at the University of Management and Technology (UMT).

"After achieving my Bachelor’s Degree at UMT, I felt that studying at UMT was convenient and suitable for me, being a full time worker, because UMT has provided a flexible learning style of on-line learning. The student can choose the completion time according to your availability."

Subsequently, I continued my MBA program at UMT. It took more than a year to complete the designated courses. In this time period, I have met lots of new classmates who have all become my good friends.

2008 BBA Classmates - - SIN, Wai Lam William

“UMT enrich my management tools and techniques to make the appropriate decision.” William says.

I was a Marketing Executive in a Hong Kong listed Printing Manufacturer in 2004-2008. During these 4 years, I had to manage a Printing house in China and was responsible for project management. In order to learn more about marketing strategic and customer behavior, I studied and completed the certificate program in marketing.

Currently, I am a Director of an Education Center in Hong Kong and management issues in daily routine. Due to the job nature with variable working schedule, it was much difficult for me to select a study for enhancement through the traditional part-time learning programme until I learnt a flexible distance learning programme from UMT that fit my studying time model and provide a harmonic time-balancing among my work, study and family.

I expect that I can learn plenty of practical business management theories and concepts in which my managerial skills gained from my experience can be consolidated in the UMT program. With the implementation of the management tools and techniques learnt in UMT study, I believe it will enable me to compete with the rapidly changing environment and enrich my future.
