held its 2015 commencement ceremony and reception on Saturday,
June 20th, 2015 in Arlington, Virginia. Close to 250 graduates,
family and friends attended the event.
The University of Management and Technology held its 2015 commencement
ceremony and reception on June 20, at the Artisphere in Arlington,
VA. UMT alumni who graduated in the past five years were invited.
Close to 250 participants from the US and overseas attended.
During the ceremony, UMT faculty and graduates, shared stories of their unique
journeys for higher education at UMT.
Dr. S. David Burke, a UMT faculty member who
also earned a Doctor of Business Administration degree from UMT,
reminded the graduates to not only celebrate the achievement
of earning a degree but to also remember that it was the decision
to attend UMT and apply the mind to study that had brought everyone
to commencement day. He also challenged the graduates to make
good choices on what to do with the degree and knowledge gained.
Mr. James J. Johnson, who completed three
degrees with UMT, recounted his journey from a youth who didn’t
take school seriously, to becoming an experienced Army contractor
without the education that validated his work experience, to
achieving this validation by earning his degrees from UMT while
fulfilling a demanding job that requires frequent travels.
Mr. Francis J. Piacine, a UMT faculty member
who received a Master of Science in Management from UMT, thanked
UMT for providing a veteran-friendly environment and innovative
quality instruction, praised the quality of the UMT students
and encouraged graduates to: "Seek to produce outputs of high value that benefit the people you love and the
world around you."
Dr. Chen, UMT's founder and President, reviewed
the university’s achievements over the past 17 years since it
was founded in 1998. Dr. J. Davidson Frame, UMT co-founder and
Academic Dean, recounted UMT's evolution in the changing higher
education landscape to meet the demand of working adult learners
in the 21st century.
At the conclusion of the ceremony and reception,
the graduates gathered at the Iwo Jima Memorial for a group photograph.

The University of Management and Technology,

degree and certificate programs with 40 disciplines to choose
from such as business administration, criminal justice, and homeland
security. Up to 75% of undergraduate and 50% of graduate required

Scholarships are available for eligible students.
As of the end of June 2015, UMT graduating
class of 2015 is comprised of 1,125 graduates who have earned
degrees at the associate, bachelor, master and doctoral levels.
Since 1998, 17,002 students coming from all 50 states, the District
of Columbia, 4 US territories, the US Military around the world,
and 69 countries have enrolled in UMT degree programs. A total
of 9,593 have earned degrees.
